Temperature has been known for millenium as an indicator of wellness or injury in a horse. Until recently the only way to detect these differences was by touch. Which meant touching a sometimes excited horse. Now, using Infrared Thermal Imaging (ITI) technology we can quickly, easily and without touching the horse discover the signs of possible problems or injury. Plus, Infrared Thermal Imaging is at least 10 times as sensitive as the human hand. So very samll but important differences can be seen without having to touch the animal. This sensitivity means these troubles with our horse can often be found weeks before the condition would be noticed by conventional means.

Infrared Thermal Imaging (ITI) looks at "where" hot or cold areas exist on the horse's body. These thermal anomalies can be signs of inflammation or disuse due to pain. As a prey animal, the horse acts to mask the hurt area, causing increased stress in other parts of their body. The obvious problem you see first may actually be a symptom of another problem that is not visually apparent but is detectable by the heat pattern on the horse.

Equine Infrared Thermal Imaging Scans have proven useful in a variety of situations and conditions including;

WiseEyes works with you and your animal care professionals to create high quality thermal images and reports that will aid you in the care of your horse, or in your purchasing decision about horses.

Infrared thermography is tremendously useful in the care of horses. But it does not replace other veterinarian diagnostic techniques. It is intended to enhance the evaluation of existing conditions and to identify what may be making your horse feel off when other clinical techniques are not effective until the horse becomes substantially lame.

WiseEyes does not make any diagnosis under any circumstances of problems that are visible in the thermal images. However, the images are of high quality and can assist your veterinarian or animal care professional in detecting problems that do not show up using other technologies such as x-rays, MRIs and ultrasound.
