Prepurchase Exam Thermal Scan

This service provides quick, useful information to those buying or selling a horse. It includes a full Infrared scan of the horse, an evaluation of the scans for thermal anomalies, and a digital report on that analysis. Infrared Thermal Imaging will detect inflammation that may not be presenting clinical signs. Drugs that may be administered to mask adverse symptoms cannot mask the condition from the thermal imager.

The report will contain digital copies of all the usable images (for review/use by your veterinary or animal care specialist). Plus we are always glad to discuss the report with you or anyone you designate.

WiseEyes does not use the thermal images to make any diagnosis of disease or conditions affecting the horse. We do pinpoint thermal exceptions that may indicate problem areas not easily revealed using other technologies or hands on examination. These problem areas are identified in the report so you veterinarian can use the information to facilitate their diagnosis and deliver cost-effective and timely treatment if needed.

Full Body Equine Scan

The full body equine thermographic scan covers your entire horse. About 26 thermographic images will be taken from head to toe, including the bottom of the hooves. The results can be reviewed on site and digital copies of images of problem areas made available immediately. A more complete report with all digital images will follow.

If you are addressing a problem a follow-up full body scan can be scheduled at a reduced cost to determine and monitor the effectiveness of a treatment or the progress of a problem.

Saddle Fit Session

The saddle fit session starts with thermal imaging taken before saddling to establish a baseline pattern. Then shots are taken with the saddle on and then after a 15 to 20 minute ride the saddle is removed and the horse and the underside of the saddle are imaged. Additional images can be taken after adjustments are made to the saddle and/or padding to determine the effectiveness of the adjustments.

Saddle fitting sessions are ideal and most economical for groups. The fit well into clinics and can be great fundraisers for clubs and 4-H groups.

Hoof Balance Scan

Instability in contacting the ground can have a large impact on the soundness of a horse. Viewed in infrared an unbalanced hoof is very clear. Warm areas are created in the part of the hoof that strikes the ground, while the unstressed parts remain cooler. These hotter contact areas indicate excessive pressure or imbalance in certain parts of the foot. This also can identify where a horse may compensate for pain by rotating or improperly placing the hoof to alleviate the discomfort.
